Keysight Technologies, China Telecom Collaborate to Accelerate Commercial Deployment of 5G

Keysight's 5G network emulation solutions enable mobile operator and its ecosystem to validate protocol and RF performance of 5G NR mobile devices.Keysight Technologies announced that the company has extended its collaboration with China Telecom to accelerate commercial deployment of 5G technology.The extended collaboration supports China Telecom’s 5G new radio (NR) device trials using Keysight’s 5G NR network emulation solutions, based on the company’s UXM 5G wireless test platform, for protocol and radio frequency (RF) performance validation. Keysight’s 5G test solutions enable China Telecom and its mobile device ecosystem ensure new 5G devices comply with the latest 3GPP 5G NR Release 15 specifications prior to market introduction."China Telecom is actively promoting commercial deployment of 5G technology," said Baorong Li, general manager of Terminal R&D Center of Guangdong Research Institute, China Telecom Co., Ltd. "Leveraging Keysight's 5G network emulation solutions will enable us to greatly accelerate development and deployment of our 5G technology and establish a leadership position in the industry."The introduction of 5G NR is leading to more complex and integrated designs, driving the need for scalable solutions that address the entire workflow, from early design to acceptance and manufacturing. Common tools shared across departments, workflows, and the ecosystem, significantly simplify and accelerate test case creation, execution and analysis. Early collaborations with industry leading chipset and device manufacturers has enabled Keysight to launch 5G solutions that support sub-6GHz and mmW frequencies for comprehensive protocol, RF, conformance and performance testing."Our extended collaboration with China Telecom highlights the global industry adoption of Keysight’s 5G network emulation solutions that help ensure 5G NR devices perform as expected on leading mobile operators’ networks," said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of Wireless Devices and Operators at Keysight Technologies. Keysight Technologies announced that it has been selected as the sole supplier of 5G network emulation solutions by Xiaomi Corporation, a leading Chinese electronics company, to accelerate development of its 5G NR mobile devices.5G devices operating on mmWave frequencies rely on phased array antenna and beamforming technologies to address higher data throughput requirements. Keysight’s 5G RF DVT Toolset supports the latest 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) Release 15 specifications, including beamforming and beam management across sub-6GHz and mmWave frequencies. Keysight Technologies, Inc. This acquisition establishes Keysight as the largest calibration and support services organization in Australia.Thales Calibration Services is a world-class commercial calibration facility specializing in dimensional, pressure, mass, and temperature metrology. Located in Melbourne, Thales Calibration was originally established to provide dimensional support, but expanded its capabilities and accreditation over the past several decades. Keysight Technologies highlights cybersecurity risk to enterprise Cloud operations

Keysight Technologies announced that Ixia, a Keysight Business, has released the Ixia 2018 Security Report, which highlights the company’s biggest security findings over the past year from its Application and Threat Intelligence (ATI) Research Centre. The report analyses the growing exposure to cybersecurity risks as enterprises operate more of their workloads in the Cloud.                           “Enterprises are now running business critical applications and services in the cloud, and this report highlights the need for changes in the way enterprises secure their data and applications,” said Jeff Harris, vice president, portfolio marketing, Keysight Technologies. “Operating in the Cloud changes security requirements. Enterprises need a strong security regimen that includes continuous testing as well as visibility down to the packet level to identify and control malicious behaviour before it impacts their business.”The survey revealed that securing data and applications is a top public Cloud priority in 2018. The dominance of Cloud has impacted security teams as well, as they strive to deliver effective security in a hybrid, dynamically changing, on-demand environment.According to the report, the gap between cloud operations and security operations is growing. A Threat Stack study found nearly 73% of public Cloud instances had one or more serious security misconfigurations. The combination of Cloud growth and a high number of security misconfigurations suggests there will be more breaches in 2018 where Cloud is a factor.As enterprises continue to struggle with preventing breaches, a mind-shift is required to detect breaches once they occur, especially when an average of 191 days passes between intrusion to detection according to a recent Ponemon study.Where 2017 was the year of ransomware, 2018 is primed to be the year of crypto jacking. AdGuard researchers reportthat over 500 million PCs are being used for crypto-mining without the owners’ knowledge. Mining crypto-currencies provides hackers with a high-profit return that is far stealthier than a ransom attack.In 2017, over half of all web traffic was encrypted. Hackers have been found to be exploiting this trend, hiding malicious traffic in encrypted streams, which makes detection via traditional means impossible. The advent of TLS 1.3 using ephemeral key encryption requires changes in the approach to encryption.
